“Scape” , 2022.

galvanised steel, acrylic paint, epoxy finish

Public art installation commissioned as a part of the LX Level Crossing Project, in collaboration with ADA Consulting and LXRP

”Commissioned in collaboration with North Western Program Alliance and the LXRP, Scape, by Tom Borgas, is a vibrant new landmark informed by a diverse convergence of histories. Set in a newly landscaped zone of the development, the dynamic form emerges from the ground as an echo of the native grasses that have greened the area for thousands of years.

Yellow and green reference the flower and foliage of the Murnong (Yam Daisy) a staple food for the local Wurundjeri people for thousands of years, whilst the red and white recall the colours of the iconic striped boom gates. The black and white stripes distil the high contrast livery and signage of the old crossing.”
